Hello 2009!

So, a friend of mine did this. She made goals (her's was 22 by 22) seeing as I am about to turn 23 (January 18th for those of you who care or forgot) I've decided to do 24 by 24. I even have a head start, so no excuses, right? So here they are:

  1. Go running twice a week, every week.
  2. graduate from BYU
  3. participate in a 5K--preferably for a foundation, i have my eye on the Susan G. Komen Foundation on May 10th here in SLC.
  4. Post on this blog more, like at least once a month--ill try not to bore you...
  5. Get my first real job!
  6. floss my teeth like once a week at least--sorry if that grosses you out.
  7. Go to the temple at LEAST once a month
  8. actually hang pictures on the wall and finish decorating my apartment
  9. make a study plan for the NCLEX
  10. Take the NCLEX and rock it.
  11. Call people more...family, joanna, taylor, beka...there are too many people I keep too little of contact with....
  12. Read a book for leisure. I am taking suggestions...
  13. Make some ground on my genealogy.
  14. Learn how to make family names temple ready and finishing their temple work.
  15. Go to Lake Tahoe...let's face it, its beautiful and it would be fun :)
  16. Go to Guatemala. Heath says Lake Atitlan is even prettier than Lake Tahoe, plus it would be cool to see his old mission stomping grounds.
  17. See Tiffany after she gets home from her mission!!! (MAY!)
  18. Do my visiting teaching EVERY month.
  19. Take my car to get a tune up (oil, breaks, ya know)
  20. plan at least one other meal a week, besides Sunday dinner :)
  21. be able to do 10 push-ups without my arms being so sore its ridiculous....it really is pathetic
  22. Get more sleep (at least approach 8-9 hours a night...)
  23. Learn how to use photoshop better
  24. enjoy the outdoors more--hiking, bike riding, skiing, etc.

So there you go! My plans over the next year and 18 days! I'll keep you updated as to how I am doing.

I also saw this link on another blog. It was kind of interesting, hope you enjoy!

Oh, and Happy New Year!

Commercials

Does any one remember these commercials?

holy cow. I just don't get commercials...Let me know if you have any other ones that you think are odd, stupid, funny, whatever. I just find it interesting the way that companies try to get you to buy their stuff. To be honest, it doesn't really work for me. But i will hand it to them, I do get a laugh from some of them, even if it is at their expense ;)

Update:

So Heath and I are still alive....We are just finishing up with finals and we each have one left (as I type this I am reviewing, or perhaps procrastinating reviewing the ethical issues involved in end of life care...oh ICU...)! I will be so glad when this semester is over, although I canNOT believe that I am already in capstone...It will be so much fun! Which reminds me, I haven't even said where I will be! I will be at UVRMC (Utah Valley Regional Medical Center) here in Provo!

I am going to be in the Cardiac ICU stepdown Unit! I am really excited and have heard a lot of good things about the unit! A little closer to actually being a real nurse everyday!

Heath's birthday is this coming Friday!

We are going up to SLC to celebrate with his extended family. It will be really fun to see everyone!

We are spending Christmas in Oklahoma this year.

We leave on December 24th and come back on January 2nd, so it will be a good trip! I am hoping that I will get to see some of my good friends while I am back :)

Let's see...nothing else too exciting yet. Maybe I'll get some good pictures from this weekend? I guess you'll just have to check back and see!

Thank goodness someone has finally spelt it out.

Check this out.

or this:

If it's not one thing it's another. I swear. THEY VOTED. GET OVER IT. becoming petty vandals and protesting in the streets doesn't accomplish things. It just perpetuates the cycle! so congrats GLBT community and all you "no on prop 8"-ers, you've villainized yourselves. Hate has never been the way to get what you want.

And guess what. Mormons don't "hate" homosexuals. We just don't. I've known a few in my short life. And I personally think they are fantastic people. The best. and guess what? Hatred is not a characteristic of Christianity. and yes, Mormons are Christian.

What about the Catholics? Why don't you throw rocks at their churches? or vandalize other church's meeting houses? Why the Mormons?

I'll get off my soapbox. Stupidity frustrates me. and Ignorance even more.

The final word....

Just one last thing about the election last night.

Obama should thank the media for getting him elected. 2012 can't come soon enough.

Big Day.

Tomorrow is a big day. Americans get the chance to elect their next president.

There are many things being voted for on various ballots.

Take the time to vote.

But don't just vote.

Know what you're voting for.

Educate yourself.

Get the FACTS.

Not what the media spoon feeds you.

Or the "feel good" words that the candidates use to distract you.

Find out for yourself which candidate's platform and morals most closely resemble your own.

And VoTe.

I wont tell you who to vote for.

That decision is yours to make.

Just remember to think before you cast your ballot.

McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden

and this is optional, but nice to hear the facts.

And for you Californiains: Prop 8--it's a big deal. I promise.

Every vote counts.

Make the one that is right for you.

Election-ing

I honestly don't like either of the presidential candidates. Neither impresses me. But hey, I'm biased. I was on the Romney bandwagon and didn't like losing "my candidate". I think both candidates we have to choose from now quite frankly suck. But I don't like how the liberal media, chooses to highlight Obama and downplay McCain. All I want is unbiased media. I don't care who they think is right or wrong for the job, I really could care less. How about they just present the facts in an unbiased way and let the American people use their own brains to make their own decisions. I really don't think it's that much to ask....

This one's for the Mavericks....

YES on Prop 8!

One of my friends has just about the best blog ever. She keeps me up to date on all that is going on in the world. Currently its Prop 8. (check out her stuff at http://burntmustard.blogspot.com/).

If I were from California and had a voice in all of this, I would definitely be voting this November 4th and I would definitely be making some phone calls.

It's not about stereotypes or bigotry or even religion, its about normalizing that which is viewed as socially unacceptable. Read my friend's post. SERIOUSLY. It is really eye-opening. and remember, VOTE YES ON PROP 8!!

Thank goodness for the weeked....

What a great weekend! I so needed a little break (even though there was plenty of studying still) from all the busy-ness!

On Friday we met Joanna and Jimmy Jo at the women's volleyball match v. Utah. They brought some friends from their ward. It was really nice to meet some new people! Needless to say, it is always good to see Joanna. We lost the volleyball match, but when you're surrounded by good people, who cares?

After the game we went back to Joanna's apartment and her friends made this honey popcorn. Oh my gosh it was delicious! I could eat it all day. And we played this Italian card game called "BANG!" which was really fun! I guess it helped that I, the Scariffo (sherif) won, thanks to Heath, my sole remaining deputy. It was fun to socialize with some new people and some really great old friends too :)

Saturday: slept in, not gonna lie. It felt great. Then I went to my study spot (its a secret) and got to work on my ICU material. There is a ton of stuff! dang...

After that though, Heath and I went to Red Robin for some burger and some of their delicious steak fries. I cannot tell you how much I love those fries...and their fry sauce? don't get me started....

Afterwards, we went to Comedy Sports! (http://comedysportzutah.com/). I had never been before! It was actually really funny! I had such a great time!

It was all just the weekend I needed!

And to top it off, here are some pictures of today. We went and drove the Alpine Loop to look at the beautiful trees with their changing leaves:

I love the fall in Utah!

One day at a time.

It has been such a busy past few days/week! Oh my goodness! But it has been so good at the same time.

Conference was wonderful. I love how every Conference there is at least one talk that really speaks directly to your heart. For me there were two.

One was Elder Perry's talk. I realized that I need to just be HAPPY! Life is good and wonderful! and yes it has its stresses, especially with the nursing program for me and the MAcc for Heath, but we're doing well! What's not to be happy about!? We're alive and have the Gospel in our lives, we are blessed beyond measure, and I see those tender mercies of the Lord every day in my life, if I just take the time to look for them.

The other was Elder Holland's talk. I loved how he talked about angels. They really are all around us. And we each have the opportunity to take that role in the lives of those we come in contact with. I have realized I need to try a little harder to be a little better at reaching out to those I love.

I picked up our wedding pictures on Saturday. You can check them out on facebook.com I love them! My photographer, Jennifer Grigg (jennifergrigg.com) did an excellent job! I am so pleased with them!

I'm all done with midterms...for now. Heath is just coming up on some.

Heath took the LSAT on Saturday, it is so exciting to wait and see what score he gets! I love being able to watch our lives unfold. I just love it.

I just finished my psychiatric nursing rotation at the Utah State Hospital, and Thursday I start my ICU rotation at the U of U. Oh, and I have to pick my top three capstone choices for next semester by the 15th. AKA, next week.

Life keeps moving on, and I am just trying to keep up and enjoy myself along the way.

Honeymoon!

So Heath and I went on our honeymoon part 2 the week before school started. I'm a little slow at getting the pictures up, but here it goes.

Our first destination was Reno, NV. On the way we saw the Utah Tree:

Time for a photo:

Random picture of Heath:

So on we went to Reno, we got there at night and this is what we saw!

We stayed the night in this little Casino called Sands Regency. It was a little sketch, not gonna lie. But it was SUPER cheap and kinda fun to be a little ghetto :)

Notice anything creepy about this picture? Maybe it's that hubby and wifey have the SAME FACE! strange...and just not right...

The next day we drove on to our next destination: San Francisco! But we made a lunch stop in Sacramento, which was a really nice/cute town! and had these great paninis...at a place called LA BOU.

It was right by the State Capital

Next thing we knew we were in:

San Francisco!

Walking around

Chinatown!

We had a lot of fun here, checking out the little shops, walking around Fisherman's Warf, Lombard Street, The Golden Gate Bridge

Next we headed to Aptos, CA to visit Heath's aunt. She had an awesome house and took such great care of us! The next morning we got up and went to a beach near her house. It had this big cement boat that the built during WW2

And the pier had all these people fishing on it

Then we headed to Carmel/Monterrey. It was so beautiful there!

Seals

Picnic!

Photo time!

Beautiful coastal highway....

Then we went to Santa Monica where we went to the pier and saw the famous carosel
and ate these delicious tacos at this little stand near the pier

we also looked for shells at the beach. It was such a fun day!

Then we headed through the heinous LA traffic for Las Vegas!!

We stayed in the Monte Carlo Casino, which was actually pretty nice! then we took a walk down strip (our hotel was like right in the middle of the strip). It was a pretty interesting walk, but we did get to see the Bellagio fountain!

The next day we headed back to Utah to get ready for school!

It was a fun trip, but it was also really good to be home again :)
