Hunger Games

For Christmas this year my awesome Mom and Dad bought Heath and I each a Kindle

The first book I read on it was The Lovely Bones  by Alice Sebold. I loved it. The Kindle screen looks just like the page of a book, I SWEAR! and it is soooo light!

So, when I finished the Lovely Bones, I asked some coworkers what I should read next. They told me about the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Holy goodness! I LOVE it!

I am only about a third of the way in, but it is so interesting! And there's a third book in the series coming out this summer sometime! something to do in my spare time!

I would definitely recommend both!

Nursing Shoes Homage

So these are my nursing shoes. I bought them right before I started BYU's nursing program. They have been great. They've been with me through all my clinicals, they went with me to Ecuador, they even came with me on the first day that I started my first nursing job. Before I got rid of them, it only felt right to take a few pictures, write a little blog post. ya know, nothing over the top. ;)

Unfortunately, they've had it. There's not much padding/support left. I've been wearing my Danskos and recently changed to these--never thought I'd wear them.... but here I am

Crocs. They're light, comfortable, and lets face it, they're easy to clean...

BTW, I'm throwing my old shoes away, not donating them--They're a little too dirty to think about someone else wearing them. If you know what I mean.

Mitt is my homeboy...

So last night Heath and I went to see Mitt Romney as he stopped on his book tour in Salt Lake City! It was really fun to hear what he had to say. There were a few other Utah political "Celebrities" and one radio personality there that we were able to get pictures with! Here's a brief recap:

Senator Hatch

Senator Bennett

Representative Chaffetz

Doug Wright

And finally, the man of  the evening, Mitt Romney:

Mitt with his lovely wife, Ann

It was a really fun night! We were lucky enough to be able to go to a reception beforehand  and then get really good seats for his speech.

It was really fun to walk around SLC all bundled up with Heathbar...made us think of New York City. We even stopped for some delicious gelato after some yummy Olive Garden.

Brian Regan

So tonight Heath and I went to see Brian Regan at Abravanel Hall in SLC:

It was AMAZING! I got pretty decent tickets last summer--I heard about him coming from an ad and was so excited! So I got them for Heath as a Christmas present. It was so hard to keep it a secret! He had no idea!

So now that we were finally able to go we couldn't have been more pleased! It was AMAZING! and that doesn't even begin to describe it.

I would highly recommend it for those who haven't experienced his genius. PLUS--its clean. Lovely.

Design. Vol 6

This time around, ENTRYWAYS.

I've always wondered what to do with an entryway to a home. It's a guest's first impression. Kind of important. But what do you put there?? Here are some ideas from BHG I thought were classic and lovely.

Can you tell I like dark wood floors yet?

Design. Vol 5

This volume, BEDROOMS.

I think the place where you sleep should be BEAUTIFUL! I love my bed. It's the most comfortable thing that Heath and I own. It wasn't cheap, but was worth EVERY cent! Here are some ideas I got from BHG.com

I like the texture on this bed...
Love the color contrast and simplicity!
This one is just so elegant and fun!
Makes me wan to curl up, read a book and take a nap
So light and warm
Nice and simple, and the wainscotting, nice.

Can you tell I want a house?? hahaha or at least that I love HGTV??

Design, Vol 4

Dens.

This time around, I'm looking at dens. Heath is planning to go to Law school, and after his graduate school, plus both of our undergrad books, we'll need plenty of shelves. Plus, I like the idea of him having a place to work from home--what can I say? I like it when he's around!

Here are some ideas I found from HGTV.com

I love how this looks so classic.

Look at the shelves...but its not my fav of all the ideas shown...
Take a look at those windows. and I like the setup. Chairs could go though....
I love the big ottoman! and SHELVES!
Window seat!
Beautiful wood floors. I like the color of the wall and chairs, they contrast so well!

I like the idea of having a nice place to read, relax and study...
